Port of Kennewick

The Metz Family Plaza, located on Clover Island in Kennewick, Washington, will be enhanced by the construction of a new cable-stayed structure designed to provide shade for visitors and a unique backdrop for a new metal sculpture.

The structure is comprised of metal and wood posts supporting cables that drape from the masts and support a curved glue-lam beam frame that is suspended approximately 10 feet off of the ground.  The cables above and below the beams support Wisteria which is a vigorous shade plant with purple hanging flowers. 

The design of the canopy not only reflects the cable bridge in the distance but also mimics the shape of the sailboats in the nearby marina.
